A PROCLAMATION

CONFEDERATE HISTORY AND HERITAGE MONTH

WHEREAS In 1874, the General Assembly of Georgia set side the 26^th day

Of April in each year to honor all heroic sons of the State who so

Gloriously illustrated the chivalry of Georgia on the field of battle

And

WHEREAS The City of Lavonia wishes all its citizens to pause, recognize and

Reflect on the gallantry and courage of all the dedicated and brave

Men who gave their lives for the Confederate, and also to honor

Their memory on his, the anniversary of Confederate Memorial Day, And

WHEREAS Monday, the 26^th of April, 2004, is Confederate Memorial Day and

The month of April has been declared Confederate History Month

By the Honorable Sonny Purdue, the Governor of the great State of

Georgia now

THEREFORE We, the Mayor and Councilmen of the City of Lavonia in the State

Of Georgia do proclaim April 26^th, 2004, as Confederate Memorial

Day, and the month of April as Confederate History Month.

IN WITNESS THEREOF, I have here unto set my hand and

Caused the seal of the City of Lavonia to be affixed.
